About the NY Metro Parents Association

The NY Metro PA holds at least 4 Parents Association meeting per academic year to report on relevant Academy issues, communicate directly with parents, and give you a direct link to the administration. Our in-person meetings are held at the Academy and all member Mids are invited to join us for dinner before we get started. All of our meetings have a Zoom option for parents out of the area or unable to attend.

Our Officers are local to the Academy and are sometimes called upon to visit a Mid of an out of area family if they are in need of support. Whether that means a little time away from the Academy for coffee or a quick meal, a hospital visit if something unfortunate happens, or just some advice on the local community, we are here for ALL Mids in that capacity. Many of our members reside across the country and join the NY Metro PA in addition to their local chapter.  

 We offer the following opportunities for parents to visit the Academy, support chapter fundraising efforts through  merchandise sales, and enjoy meaningful time with fellow families and  Midshipmen, including:   

• Indoc Welcome Table – Greet and support incoming families as they begin their Academy journey.  
• Parents Weekend Welcome Table – Help welcome visiting families and represent the Parent Association during one of the Academy’s premier events.  
• Homecoming Welcome Back Table – Reconnect with returning families, alumni, and Midshipmen during Homecoming Weekend festivities.  
• Regimental Holiday Dinner Support – Assist with the annual holiday celebration for all Academy Midshipmen while sharing in this special tradition.  
• Cookie Café Co-Sponsorship – Participate in one of the Midshipmen’s favorite events by helping host and serve at the annual Cookie Café. 

Your membership in the Parent Association along with fundraising directly benefits the Midshipmen by funding events, celebrations, recognition awards, and  other initiatives designed to enrich their time at the Academy, such  as: 

• Welcome BBQ for Plebe Candidate Families – Connect with experienced Academy parents, alumni, and fellow incoming families before Indoc, helping ease the transition into Academy life.  
• Meetings & Family Engagement – Members are invited to attend at least 3 Parent Association meetings  each year, hosted at the Academy in Land Hall with Zoom access for those  unable to attend in person. Prior to each meeting, members may invite  their Midshipman and a guest to enjoy a complimentary catered dinner, providing valuable opportunities to connect with fellow families. 
• Finals Week Support for Midshipmen – Every Midshipman from a member family receives a gift card during 3rd Trimester Finals Week as a reminder of the chapter’s ongoing support  and encouragement. (Those out to sea will have a card waiting for them in their academy mailbox) 
• Regimental Holiday Dinner Sponsorship – Membership helps provide the annual holiday celebration for all  Academy Midshipmen, including a commemorative gift for attendees.  
• All-Academies Ball Benefits – Membership covers the cost of Midshipman tickets to the New York Area All-Academies Ball and includes a commemorative gift for graduating seniors.  
• Senior Graduation Recognition – Each graduating senior from a member family receives a commemorative  Bell Plaque honoring the milestone achievement of passing the license  exam.
